About a 4 minute read

Most people need a doctor at the least convenient time: a child’s fever on a Saturday, a parent who seems off on a Sunday afternoon, a symptom that will not settle by evening. Clinics close and the emergency department feels like too much. This page sets out what Doctors To You can do outside office hours, and where to go when we are closed.

When are you open?

We answer from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, seven days a week, weekends and holidays included. Home visits run on the same schedule. Call 204-586-6655, or book online if you are planning ahead.

Can I see a doctor on the weekend in Winnipeg?

Yes. Saturday and Sunday are normal working days for us. A physician can come to your home if your address is in one of the Winnipeg neighbourhoods we cover, or see you by phone or video from anywhere in Manitoba. Same day visits are usually possible when you call early and your address is in our area, and weekends are no different.

Weekend calls are often about the same everyday concerns as any other day: colds, flu and COVID-19 symptoms, sore throats and coughs, ear and sinus infections, urinary symptoms, rashes, minor injuries, and an older relative who is not quite right. See what we treat.

Calling in the evening

Call as early as you can. A physician’s route is built through the day, so a morning call has far more room in it than the same call late in the afternoon. If a home visit is no longer possible today, a phone or video visit is often available sooner, or we book you the next available home visit.

If you are weighing something up in the evening and it is not urgent, do not sit on it overnight. Call at 8:00 AM the next morning, when the day’s schedule is at its most open.

Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department, at any hour, for chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, signs of a stroke, a severe allergic reaction, a serious injury, or thoughts of harming yourself.

What can I do after 9:00 PM?

We are closed from 9:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Overnight, these are the options in Winnipeg:

  • Health Links Info Sante is a free line staffed by registered nurses, open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Call 204-788-8200 in Winnipeg or 1-888-315-9257 toll free. A nurse will tell you whether it can wait for the morning or whether you need to be seen now. Manitoba does not use 811.
  • An urgent care centre or emergency department for a problem that cannot wait until morning. The WRHA publishes live wait times for both through the day.
  • 911 for any emergency.

If it can wait, call us at 8:00 AM.

Other evening and weekend options in Winnipeg

Some problems are better handled somewhere else, and we would rather you get the right care than wait for ours. The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority runs primary care clinics with extended evening and weekend hours at Grace, Concordia and Victoria. Misericordia runs a minor injury and illness clinic on Cornish Avenue for sprains, small wounds and minor burns. Hours change, so check the WRHA site before you go. Our guide for people with no family doctor in Winnipeg compares every option.

Which option fits tonight or this weekend

Not sure? Call 204-586-6655 before 9:00 PM and we will tell you.

By phone or video

For concerns you can describe clearly, follow-ups and advice. Often the quickest route, from anywhere in Manitoba.

At your home

When a hands-on exam helps, or leaving the house is the hard part. Select Winnipeg neighbourhoods, often the same day.

In an emergency

Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department, at any hour. Do not wait for a booked visit.
